Basketball

Capital Day School offers students the opportunity to play on school basketball teams.  The season usually begins in September and continues through early winter.  Teams are determined by the number of students. Typically, there is one team for girls in fifth through eighth grades, a team for fifth and sixth grade boys, and a team for seventh and eighth grade boys.

Capital Day School’s philosophy of educating the whole child applies to extracurricular athletics as well as school academics. Athletics provides a chance for students to experience physical and social growth and to learn to be responsible. It also allows teamwork and sportsmanship to be incorporated into the students’ learning environment. Students must pass a physical exam before participating in any athletic activity. All interested and eligible students get playing time on athletic teams.
