Track and Field

Track is held in the spring. There are separate boys and girls teams for students in grades One through Eight. Parents must accompany their children and remain during practices and meets.

CDS strives for the holistic academic, intellectual, physical, and emotional development of its students. Unlike other sports, both track and field provides a unique opportunity for largely individual performance challenges in a team setting. The track and field program at CDS is intended to bring students to these sports to challenge them physically and mentally and to develop within the student physical and mental toughness, self-confidence, and leadership.

Students who participate in track and field are challenged to improve not only their endurance and athleticism, but also their ability to focus and sustain concentration. These programs are intended to provide an opportunity for students to accomplish new tasks and to challenge themselves and each other to improve their athletic performance, regardless of skill and performance level. We try to accomplish this via conditioning and learning of new skills in a supportive and fun environment that includes student athletes, coaches, and parents.

Students must pass a physical exam before participating in any athletic activity. All interested and eligible students get playing time on athletic teams.
