CAPITAL DAY SCHOOL
KYA
Kentucky Youth Association
In
the fall, Capital Day School seventh and eighth grade students participate in
the
Kentucky Youth Assembly (KYA) sponsored by the Kentucky YMCA Youth Assn., Inc.
KYA, an exciting civics lesson, is a hands-on program where students assume
the role
of state government officials for three days. Students get the chance
to share ideas
and opinions, run for state office, lobby for or against a bill, present a case
before
student justices, and broadcast a news report while meeting and having
fun with students from other schools.
