Elementary School Teacher
Kindergarten Through Fifth Grade
Capital Day School is seeking an Elementary School Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Our small class sizes allow teachers to truly know each student and their families. It is the perfect environment to ignite students’ curiosity using project-based learning strategies that are integrated across the curriculum. The Elementary School Teacher will strive to inspire students in understanding their community and the world around them through daily instruction in language arts, mathematics, social studies and science in a student-centered classroom. We are currently looking for teachers for the 5th and 2nd grades.
The ideal candidate has an engaging and passionate classroom presence and shares our mission of growing life-long learners. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility, and an eagerness for professional growth and collaboration with the elementary school team members. The candidate also has a demonstrated passion for teaching at the lower elementary level, a demonstrated understanding of child development, and a willingness to immediately contribute to our lower elementary school team.
Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in early or elementary education; Master’s degree preferred,
Possess an energetic and enthusiastic approach to teaching,
Be able to meet students on their developmental level,
Work collaboratively with other teachers of different age groups,
Be organized, create consistency and have good classroom management skills,
This is a full time position. All full-time positions include the option for healthcare plan (50% paid by school), retirement plan after one year, and excellent working environment.

Foreign Language Teacher
Kindergarten through Eighth Grade
Capital Day School has an opening for a full-time kindergarten through eighth grade Foreign Language teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. This teacher coordinates curriculum within our K-8 objectives and is an active member of both elementary and middle school teams. The ideal candidate has experience teaching Spanish or French in a school setting and possesses exceptional organizational skills. The ideal candidate also has a demonstrated passion for teaching at the elementary and middle school levels, a demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development, and a willingness to immediately contribute to our elementary and middle school teams.
Candidates must possess a degree in Spanish or French and submit to a background check. A teaching certificate is preferred, but not required.

We always need new subs for Preschool thru 8th-grade classes. Capable individuals with teaching experience (preferred) are encouraged to apply. Our classes are small, and our students are attached to the curriculum, thus easy to manage.
Summer Adventures In Learning
Capital Day School is seeking a Summer Program Counselor for our eight-week Summer Adventures In Learning (SAIL) program beginning June 7th and ending August 6th, 2021. Each week our themed program offers students half, or full days, of structured fun and exploration for each age group: Littles (3-5 years), Middles (6-8 years), and Bigs (9-12 years). The SAIL program counselor is integral to the success of our program.
The SAIL Program Counselor will report to the Program Director and will serve as the responsible adult caring for students in the SAIL program. You will be responsible for guiding children, leading activities and having fun!
Functions and Duties are as follows:
Serve as a role model for students.
Assume responsibility for students’ safety at all times. Report any accidents or incidents to the Program Director immediately.
Follow program rules, policies and guidelines as set by CDS and the SAIL Director.
Be present in the participants’ lives, showing a genuine interest in them.
Be punctual, organized and accountable.
Know where ALL participants are at ALL times.
Effectively supervise students in activities. You will be a coach, a mentor, and a confidant.
Develop activities as assigned by the Program Director.
Deliver exemplary customer service to families.
Maintain camp supplies throughout the summer. Clean and prepare supplies as needed for activities.
Maintain approved Covid-19 procedures and cleaning.
Be creative and have fun!
We are also seeking SAIL Assistant Counselors. Applicants must be sixteen or older. Assistants will be held to the same standards and expectations as Program Counselors with the understanding that SAIL Assistant Counselors will follow the direction of the Program Counselor to which they are assigned.
